Artist Statement about this design: “AWE is what I experience! AWE at the magnificent complexity, symmetry, colors, and divinity in Nature! That is what I seek to capture for you.
I specialize in fractal geometry, the recently discovered mathematics behind the complex structures of Nature’s art that is built upon single, self-repeating shapes of multiple sizes. This painting started as a photograph of ivy in the gardens of the Huntington Library in San Marino, California. The entire image was covered with a black mask and then the leaf shapes were "cookie-cut" out of the black, thereby revealing the foliage below. Additional leaf shapes were layered and shadowed. The hue was adjusted to the spectrum of yellow-orange-red.
My fractal water color paintings and digitally modified fractal photographs spring from my love of physics, vivid colors, Nature, and 25 years of creating architectural stained glass."
